Lance I have seen that as well. I don't know why the USN is the red headed step child in terms of collectibles here. I love the stuff, uniforms are beautiful and the history is so interesting. I think the 1880’s through WWI in especially interesting with the shift to the steel Navy, the Span Am war and the Great White fleet and tour around the world. Let it lie dormant I say, but I remember the days when Japanese stuff was really depressed. Who knows maybe in 20 years USN collectibles will be hot!

99713 is not the contract number. That's like a stock number.    The contract number would be under the International "shoe CO" stamp.

Yes I agree with you when I google search it it says ww2 or Korean era the eBay seller had it listed as Vietnam so that’s what I thought it is but google also told me it was Vietnam once then shows the same thing under it saying ww2 . I have no clue man 🥀🙂‍↔️

The problem I have with google lens is that in my own person experience on uniforms it can sometimes be wrong with certain things. Although it is good with simple stuff like this with it being able to tell by the patches and the national defense ribbon

What bothers me is that it looks like each element was painted all at the same time. It has UNIS markings, it has a EGA and it has a "war diary" and each element would have been painted at a different time. Perhaps: Name first. Unis Marking perhaps second. Then an EGA and then maybe the islands or port of calls. To be all painted up at the same time just would not happen. It's like Vietnam graffiti covers having clear bold marking, names, sayings, place names all bold, sharp and the same gradients of color just would not happen unless the vet made it after the period of events. A helmet cover, faded, with some markings clearer than others, color bleeding, some "refreshed" , some so faint that they hard to read is what I would expect for a period used and applied piece and I would expect a seabag that followed a Marine through the pacific during WW2 to be similar.  Just my thoughts.
