Hello all,   I am seeking research assistance and a market evaluation on a complete and intact WWII USAAF named archive belonging to Sergeant Albert Outzts Kemp, ASN 34649839, of the 563rd Bomb Squadron, 388th Bomb Group (Heavy), 8th Air Force. Kemp served as a ball turret gunner and was killed in action on November 25, 1944, during a bombing mission over Merseburg, Germany.   The grouping has remained together and intact and includes the following:   Medals & Award Documentation: - Named Purple Heart in original presentation case with forwarding card from the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot signed by Brigadier General Roland Walsh - Purple Heart certificate dated September 6, 1945, signed by Secretary of War Henry Stimson - Letter from Secretary of War Stimson to Kemp's father dated August 8, 1945 - Presidential Memorial Certificate signed by President Harry S. Truman - War Department / Adjutant General's Office letter explaining the posthumous Purple Heart award process, signed by Major General Edward F. Witsell, dated January 31, 1945 - Original mailing envelope from the Secretary of War, postmarked Washington D.C., August 9, 1945   Personal Papers & Diary: - Continuous personal diary covering January 1 through July 3, 1944, documenting training at multiple Army Air Forces installations including Las Vegas Army Air Field and Indian Springs Air Field, live aerial gunnery exercises, and his personal reaction to D-Day on June 6, 1944   Photographs: - Bomber crew photograph with full handwritten crew identification on the reverse, naming all crew members by role and hometown - Personal portrait photograph of Kemp in civilian dress   Pre-War Materials: - Clemson University YMCA handbook, 1941-42 - Boy Scouts of America uniform pants with National Council liner and BSA button - Boy Scouts of America Second Class Scout certificate named to Albert Kemp, Trenton, S.C. - High School Varsity Letter in Football - High School football pants - Charleston Airport U.S. Engineering Department badge - Bob Hope USO Special Program ticket, Flamingo Park Bandshell, Miami Beach, Florida, March 7, 1944   The grouping documents Kemp's life from his early years in South Carolina through his time at Clemson University, his Army Air Forces training, and his service with the 8th Air Force, culminating in his final mission in November 1944.   I have also confirmed his service record and loss through official documentation. The 388th Bomb Group flew B-17 Flying Fortresses out of Knettishall, England.   Any research assistance, historical context, or market evaluation from the community would be greatly appreciated. Happy to provide additional photographs of any individual items upon request.   Thank you in advance!

Interesting.  I wish i had a chance to talk to the lady dropping off the jackets at the thrift shop.  Saw her handing them to the worker.

Do the pictures in the post that I sent you answer your question about where on the harness the hardware goes, or are you asking how to get the pins out of the hardware to put them on the harness?

Those books should be on every WWII's collector bookshelf. Beautiful color photos and just enough detail to be dangerous lol

I am having a hard time figuring out exactly what you are asking. Some pictures of what you have would surely help.
