Tonomachi maybe the oval in OP since it is ME is for that jump unit in the 8th Div, but it wouldn't be the whole battalion as you know that wore it, for those who don't know it just A Company (Abn), A Co supports those two infantry and assorted jump units that made up the division's 1st Brigade, 1st Brigade (Airborne), this brigade goes off jump status in 1973, so plausibly this merrowed edge one he's got could of been worn in the very late 60s up till 1973. There are several "12th Airborne Engineer Ovals up on the Bay for those interested. -

There are so few of them around that it is very difficult to say with any accuracy what the fair market value would be for a spent cartridge. If I saw one for sale at a gun show with a price of $150 on it I would not be surprised. An unfired example might be worth three times that. The market is pretty limited being divided between cartridge collectors and S&W collectors. Regards, Charlie Image below credited to Ordnance. -

National Museum of Nuclear Science and History 601 Eubank Blvd SE Albuquerque, NM 87123 505-245-2137 www.nuclearmuseum.org I visited this museum in March of 2026. Plan to spend 1-2 hours to view all the exhibits. The old timer that greeted us when reentering the building from the outdoor displays has some good stories to tell about his time as a mechanic on SR71s if you stop and talk to him. -
