Bringing this back up. I have applied for this medal posthumously for my grandfather and he has been accepted. I emailed the consulate in Washington DC (The Chicago one was very unhelpful, they referred me to a Taiwanese Ministry of Defense public opinion web form).    I will post pictures of the medal here when I receive it on his behalf. I am assuming nothing came from an official list of these; I will try to ask about it when the medal arrives and I write a thank-you response to the person who is helping me at the consulate.

Hello Where can I find a book on flash and crest? And do you have any examples or titles? Thank you

Hello everyone and Happy Easter. I got some more work done. I'm getting to where the decals get applied. But not just yet. Enjoy the pics.   Semper Fi.   Manny

Sharpening is definitely not something you want to do with military blades that have collectible/historical value. Likely knocked 20% of the value off.

This was the first Saturday of every month flea market at the DeAnza Community College in Cupertino, CA. This is the only one I attend fairly regularly. It’s conveniently nearby. There used to be a few other local ones but they’ve all gone away.  As I approach my possible retirement in the next couple of years, I’ve decided not to actively collect anymore(yeah, right 😆).  As I realized the hard way boxing all my stuff up to clear for the house redecoration, I’ve got way too much carp. Much of it I’ve forgotten I ever had.  mikie

Very cool piece. I have some USS Marblehead groups and I have never seen that medal before. I appreciate groups to men who were in the Asiatic fleet when the war began.   Kurt

Found this today. What's the E Gun medal for?

Where was this? I've missed good flea markets since I moved away from Northern California. Laney Community College, Alameda Peddlers Fair, Sacrament Antique Street Fair, Marysville Flea Mart, Denio's - Roseville, just to name the ones I have can think of right now. Eastern Washington has nothing like those up here.  Great glider picture! I'd have picked that up for $5.
