This is correct, in keeping with USAF Uniform Regulations of the time. Current assigned unit (aligned here) patch worn in left breast pocket. Major Command (MAJCOM) worn on right breast pocket. In this case, TAC/Tactical Air Command was assigned fighter/interceptor aircraft, SAC/Strategic Air Command had bombers & ICBM, MAC/Moblity Airlift Command, cargo planes. The Captain here, mostly like had a Squadron or Detachment patch. However choose to wear the unit (2nd AD) SSI he was supporting. -
