That makes them glove inserts, not mitten inserts. There's a big and obvious difference between the two. I used olive green wool glove inserts and the trigger finger mitten wool inserts over a 21-year Army career. I can assure you there's a difference. -

I also like the pace count beads... Quite the luxury. I used a piece of paracord and put a knot in it every km. I have to dig out whats left of my old LBE, but as I remember, I solved the loose buckle latch on the suspenders problem by removing the buckles and replacing them with Paracord. -

This is crazy. I live in california. Eugene was my grandma's brother on my dad's side. I just had a daughter that has the middle name Gene because my grandma always said I reminded her of him. Small world.. I am interested in the chain of custody on this medal. Any information would be pretty cool. -

Green Mittens... The green mitten inserts I am referring to are the ones with the fingers that fit into the black leather shells. The type they used to issue. Two Canteens? I was in the Infantry. I dont recall how many were issued. I think it was 2. I carried 2 canteens on my LBE... and 2 in my Ruck. Carried a Gallon. 4 Canteens. It may not show up, but the gear is not completely clean. Its got some use and dirt / dust etc... It could be re enactor set up, Probably is?.... But its a good representation of the gear we carried back in the day. Placement of the compass pouch.... First aid pouch..... I always had compass pouch attached to the belt. Stock weld.. I always slipped the butt end under the suspender strap. Never had a stock weld issue... Anyhow, you could be right... I got it as a representation and I really just wanted the Butt Pack ! lol Personally what makes me think you guys are correct, is the use of silver duct tape on the buckles. I could see Green High speed tape, Black electrical tape, but silver duct tape does seem to signify Non tactical. I dont see an infantry soldier using it,. -
