Lastly is a statuette of a Greek Fisherman. I turned him into a Kriegs Marine Officer. I cut his insignia out of thick paper. Then painted them and glued em on. He had on one of those funky little Greek fishing caps so I built the cap up with modeling clay. Have him a coat of paint and there you are. Thanks for looking.

The airman was my first and only attempt at carving an individual.

Next is a USAAF dude. This guy was hand carved by me and painted by me. I screwed up hi crusher so I had to pivot and make his cap out of modeling clay.

I might have an opportunity to purchase a .44 QSPR “tunnel rat” cartridge (spent).      Does anyone have an idea what the value might be?  The seller is not really sure either.  Thanks.

Here are some statuettes that I have had for some time. However I had to doctor on them to make them better than they were. The first is a U.S. Paratrooper that I picked up back in the 80’s at a gun show. It needed to be repainted and his hel et needed work. So I painted the guy over and got some modeling clay and built up his helmet to look a little more normal size. I also picked up some cheese cloth and made him a helmet net. I am an 82nd fan so I painted the insignia of the 82nd and gave him a flag. I thought he looked a bit better than off the shelf.

I think I'm going to shoot a few rounds out of it before I sell it, see if I can hit a few cans!

Great images. Really places the uniform in context to history. So many times, you have the uniform and are just chasing bits of history through the net. This is what makes this forum great.

. Hi Bob,    Yes pleased to see you active again and bringing your life-boat ration to peoples attention again.   Yes I am fine as far as I know, still alive and kicking and no need currently for any medication or medical interventions, no sugar or salt in forty years, only use butter non of that grease they say we should all use, and a positive attitude.  Still happy with life in rural France, happy out and about in my wartime Jeep, with a good social circle of friends   Likewise I hope all well with yourself and family  it must be many years ago now when your daughter was at university, are you also a grandpappy now.    Take care and be proud of the life-boat kit, I also enjoyed the glasses, goggles and eyepieces you posted from your collection   regards lewis.   ...
