Hi, Here is the uniform of Commander Bob Aumack, who joined VF-163 aboard the USS Orskany in August 1967 and assumed command in February 1968. He had been the Blue Angels’ In-Command (OIC) since 1964. The uniform is fairly traditional, with pockets on the lower part of the jacket. The first letter of his name and the last four digits of his service number (505786) are written in marker on the jacket collar. A pen pocket is sewn onto the right sleeve, suggesting he was left-handed. The vinyl pocket that was on the left sleeve has been unstitched (traces remain on the sleeve). This is the uniform he is wearing in the attached photo. The zipper is located at the bottom of the right cargo pocket on the pants. I’m skeptical about its purpose! Perhaps it’s to allow the blade of an overly long knife to extend, but under anti-G pants, I’m not sure if that’s very comfortable! The model is different from the one worn at VA 152 during the same period, so there were likely multiple suppliers. The purchases must have been made by the squadrons. Attached is a photo of the two camouflage patterns, which are nevertheless very similar. Best Croc -

I served with CPT Keith from 1970-1972 in C 3/325, 2D Brigade, 82D Airborne. He was a good man; he was highly respected. As a company commander, his troops loved him. I was a second lieutenant in his company.
