Also, 2 spelling errors in the saying 'Der Alt Jager'. It means 'The Old Hunter' in German (context??) but the correct spelling is 'Der Alte Jäger'.

I picked this kids coat off of eBay recently. It’s made very much like an M41….sort of. I collect among other things kids stuff. Uniforms and toy guns and equipment. It was covered in patches on the front and back that went this way….that way….and every which way. I removed them. If anybody wants them all they are cheap and just send me a pm. I plan to have some epaulets sewn on the jacket and turn it into an airborne coat. I have a small kid mannequin and it will look great when it is finished.

That makes the most sense. I'll let my eyes rest and take another look later. To me it seems an unusual marking in a cap.

Glad you got it. Your denim pants can be a second-issue type from late WW2 or post-war. You can only determine it about the contract tag on them - which is removed...   post-war contract    As SigSays said a lot of times - they used WW2 stocks after the war for many, many years...

Wow amazing group. My father has one himself. Him and 3 others got it for the same event. If you ever are interested in selling or trading for it let me know. I would be happy to have it on display next to my fathers.

Interesting, I'd assumed that this was from the WWII training command.   German made?  Berlin Airlift or Korean War?

It should be US Quartermaster Corps - initials USQMC.  The USQM Department became the corps in 1912. The former USQMD initials lingered on with a few items though.

Me too, patches, he was one of the great supporting actors, nobody could have done his signature parts better.     94, he had a good run and his marbles up to the end.

Nope, Nestor. Another fake. The big “red flags” here the nasty condition of this lighter, the paint-filled letters coupled with cramped arrangement of the lettering.   And a footnote: The numerals listed under the last name are supposed to be the Social Security Number (SSN), which replaced the Army Service number in ~1969. This is actually a coded numbering system with the first three digits (known as the area number) indicating the state where the individual signed up for the SSN. Since 1979 it now indicates the state of residence. In this case “179” means Pennsylvania. While the next two numbers are known as the group, and the last four numbers (known as the serial numbers) are actually individually assigned (these last four range from 0001 to 9999).
