If I recall his stories correctly, Dad was stationed at Schofield Barracks for a short time in 1942. He was aboard the first army troopship to reach Hawaii after the Pearl Harbor attack. While he was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands for about a year, I believe he was stationed elsewhere most of the time. I know he was on the Big Island for a while. I wish like heck I had recorded some of his stories. mikie -

. Local Jeep Grille Find. a local friend bought a rusty Jeep Grille a few years ago at a flea market. Using it today to trace around to cut a board backing for the wooden display Jeep we are building for the Longest Yarn display I noticed that the Jeep it came from had been taken apart and sprayed navy grey many years ago possibly even wartime. Evidence of the grey could be seen in the rear of the grille bars and to either side near the lights cutouts not just blasted over on the outside surfaces, O.d green was still to be seen beneath the grey paint Norman D. . Hi Johan and Salvage, yes early blue denim is a favourite of mine and finally achieving recognition amongst the collectors for being in use early WWII. I was just looking through my button box and pulled out these three styles of button used on blue denims. The small aluminium top left simply has U S A on it and the larger one on the right has U S Army embossed on it. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 25 March 2O26. … -

S and S Firearms has a reproduction of the 1885 carbine sling and the snap hook. It's not labeled as such so you have to do a close visual search to find it. I have one and it is a quality replica.
