. out of ' likes '   I wanted to add about seven or eight likes this morning, I think the five like per 24 hours is controlled by the American 24 hours, I just got up and logged on while breakfasting and a screen sign said I wasn't allowed to add more like's today . . . . .  so sorry guys normal service will hopefully be restored later today.   Norman D. Very nicely done. As for the rifle slings, the effort is worth it. But I too forego adding slings to "difficult" figures.   Semper Fi.   Manny

. Hi earlymb,   well I am pleased that you are returning the Jeep to it's wartime configuration without a dealers fantasy shovel cover. The dealers made them just to get more money from Jeep owners, like wise the mirror covers, spare wheel covers, bags attached to the rear of the front seats, aerial base covers jerrycan covers.    I always worried how far this would go, imagine dealers selling pink fluffy slippers as shoes and boots would wear the paint out on the floor panels . . . . .          Norman D. Nice pick up as I was watching this piece but for some reason this particular auction site always seems to sells things at a much higher price than what other auction sites like eBay sell for.  I've always wondered if this was due to being able to utilize things that you buy on this site as a donation to charity on your taxes.

Hi Kat, It’s a print of a painting by artist Ron Cole. He specializes in aviation history. He usually includes a small piece of the aircraft he portrays. In this case as the description says, the C-47 dropped paratroops on D-Day.  The story of how this plane was rediscovered and saved from the junk pile is on the internet somewhere.  Mikie

Been around here a long time under this handle and have learned a lot from this community over the years.   Wanted to share something I recently finished — I wrote a book:   National Treasure or Trash: War, Memory, and the Intergenerational Cost of Combat.   It’s not a typical military history book. It’s built off primary records, family research, and the kind of questions a lot of us end up thinking about over time — what actually carries forward from war, and what gets lost, misremembered, or reshaped.   A lot of it ties directly into the kinds of artifacts, records, and stories we all discuss here — but zoomed out into the long-term impact.   If nothing else, I think folks here would appreciate the angle.   Link if you want to take a look: https://a.co/d/0cuCqsQ3   https://www.mph-author.com    Either way — appreciate everything this forum has put out over the years. It’s helped more than you probably realize. Sincerely,  pegasus6
