I have both types of this patch and have wondered about the color difference. I assumed it was just some manufacturer trying to simplify the process. Does the red or blue flame have any significance or was the spec changed at some point?  And yes, I know the color of the flame depends on what you are burning in the lamp.

Oh I'm so sorry I've been doing 2 similar impressions at once and got this mixed up with my National Guard impression.   I'm really sorry!   Wade

Yeah, that makes sense! I’ll see what we can do with it. It’s not an uncommon issue, and overall conditions aren’t great anyway. Thank you!

The buttons with the wreath are the type usually used by the Navy. CBs and other land based unites wear this style as a work uniform so it was probably made under a Navy contract. The EGA on the packet is the newer style, someone probably added it to a Navy jacket to make it more valuable and easier to sell.

I find that really hard to believe. I seriously doubt that the planners at the pentagon and in our govt have no plan for the end. Planning is what they do, before operations ever start they have plans already in place. It does not mean that everything will go according to plans. But I do not believe that this  operation has no end game planned out. Not for one second. Speaking as Capt obvious here..... .....the end game seems to be the removal of the Islamic Govt. How is attacking infrastructure a war crime? Power plants, rail roads, bridges etc all seem to be legitimate targets. Are they not?

The item description and a few pictures from the auction.   Up for auction! Offered here is a rare and highly desirable 8-point knuckle guard fighting knife, attributed to the style documented by noted military knife authority M. H. Cole and from the respected collection of longtime military collector Jake Glickman of Big Spring, Texas. This piece represents a classic WWII-era trench / theater fighting knife design, featuring a striking solid brass 8-point knuckle guard paired with a hand-finished blade hallmarks of the rugged, purpose-built knives favored by servicemen of the period. Jake Glickman reportedly acquired as part of a group of early knuckle knives associated with M.H. Cole many years ago. This knife is consistent with examples illustrated and discussed in Cole’s reference works. Offered as an attributed example as no direct factory documentation is present (lots of detailed photos added). Distinctive solid brass 8-point knuckle guard with well-defined geometry, Hand-fit construction showing period-style workmanship, Substantial feel in hand—built for function and durability, and Desirable trench knife / knuckle knife configuration. This is a very nice well-preserved example with honest age and handling characteristics. natural patina present on brass guard, blade shows some scattered age spots (no pitting) overall very fine. This knife is untouched and fresh to the collector market. Sold as a collector-attributed fighting knife, unfortunately no claim can be made of official U.S. military issue or verified manufacture by M.H. Cole. Buyer is responsible for understanding local laws regarding ownership of double edged knuckle knives. Extremely Interesting Piece!

+1 to @Allan H.’s comment.     Broach is oxidized / corroded, but the drape - including the part touching the drape - is crispy white.
