I put a few things on my profile if you'd like to have a look.  The army still owes him a meal! He still had a mess hall pass. Lol You collect paperwork? Do you know what "HoodWinks" is?

I bought a misc grouping of dive items at a garage sale this weekend and had a hunch it was early UDT equipment.    I believe the grouping is a Korean War UDT grouping containing the following:   1) BG-159 rubberized bag 2) set of early swimmaster giant udt duck feet fins.  Not navy marks 3) neopreme wet suit bottom with no nylon skins, no markings 4) Neopreme hood with no nylon  5) pair of size 6 rubber dipped booties, no other markings   Unfortunately I have found no names or ID on any of these items. There is a name tags on the bag but no name. Ill take a better look.    I would love to hear your thoughts    Thanks

Big corner? The Army Band is at Ft. Myer. I spent time at Cameron Station, Ft. Myer, and Ft. McNair as Soldier and as a civilian Army employee.

. Beautiful Sunshine Today,   I thought the Jeep looked particularly nice in the sunshine in Ste Mere Eglise today .  it captured a lot of attention being sunny, and the screen down !!!!!       Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 22 March  2O26.   …

Thanks for the answer! I'm not a collector of WW II, I'm more a collector of family things in this particular instance. I was only 11 when he died, but he was right up there with Jesus to me. He was a good man. He took me to buy cows with him every week and taught me to fish. I loved him very much. He put the medical training (or part of it - stitches, first aid and a common knowledge of how things should work) to use after the war. I remember people used to call him if there livestock got sick or hurt. He was a local "try this before you call the vet" alternative.  The paperwork is what I find fascinating! It's the actual documentation. I'm trying to trace his steps through the war.  Thank you for the response! There are so many things I'm sorting through and am curious about!

Very neat to have this from your grandfather! To answer your question, yes, there is a lot of this kind of stuff out there. Figure, there were over 16 million Americans who served in WWII. Paperwork to soldiers is something a relatively small number of collectors go after. For those of us who do collect paper, it is nice to read the small details, especially from a soldier who saw combat on the ground.

I picked up one of these newsletters.  Here are the front ant back covers.  The application to join/renew on the back cover clearly shows who could become a member: Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Widow of Woman member of Armed Forces attached to AAF.
