The war is still going. Its not over until the enemy is finished. We are having a discussion in the military history section, about a chapter in the book of military history that has not finished being written. Its not over yet... Captain Obvious I know.... Cheers! -

There was a Lieutenant Colonel Craven assigned to DC in 1940, unfortunately for this uniform he was a dentist. That's all I can find. https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015035099707&seq=1412&q1=craven -

I have a mess kit spoon (on the left) that we keep in our kitchen drawer, plus a “tactically acquired” spoon I “borrowed” from a mess hall in Vietnam and converted into a spork. I always take it with me on travel. The plastic spoon on the right is just one you get with a takeout meal: -

Thanks, jmd62. Here’s a WWII era YWCA armband: The YWCA was one of the core members of the USO and also worked extensively with Japanese-American girls in the relocation camps. -

Sorry about the sideways picture. Still not sure how I go about getting it to be straight. -

Can anyone post a pic of a 1943 M.A.co canteen? I have a cup but I have never seen a 43 M.A.co canteen. That is my favorite year to collect and I believe the only 43 metal canteens I don't have is the 43 GP&F three piece stainless, and the 43 M.A.co aluminium. I have seen the GP&F once in awhile for sale but have yet to snag one. I have all four aluminum horizontal weld canteens for that year but the 43 M.A.co search has been ongoing forever it seems. These are most all my 1943 manufacturers. The pic is a few years old so it might be missing one. -

IMO, your comment regarding all discussions of historical events are "armchair" is entirely incorrect. There is a distinct difference between looking back at history and looking at current events. When you look backwards, you have historical records and evidence to back up your claims. A lot of research goes into dissecting historical events. In looking at the current events, you posted numerous videos from a source that is not from our Navy. They are not a reputable news organization. This is just some group that wants "clicks" on a YouTube video. There is a distinct difference between unclassified and declassified. In today's world, it is very easy to post a video or even AI generated images/accounts to sway people into believing false information. Case in point is a fake AI generated female American soldier named "Jessica Foster" who has duped many people into believing she is real. https://www.adn.com/nation-world/2026/03/20/thousands-have-swooned-over-this-maga-dream-girl-shes-made-with-ai/ We do not know what is truly going on right now in Iran. We can speculate. History will look back on this time and will have a completely different analysis than what is being portrayed right now. That is the thing about looking back at events. A lot more information can be obtained when looking backwards.
