. Hi earlymb, thanks for showing that French made one end of WWII, I never found one of these. I did however find over the years several WWI French made ones. I once found one in Jim's militaria at Plano outside Chicago, I hid it again for a collecting friend Dan in Chicago to pick it up later, I didn't tell him I hid it for him, I just told him where he would be able to find one, he thought I had some sort of mystical powers enabling me to locate things. . From my Shoebox Collection. Beautiful new Brass overcoat buttons, well in fact NO they are not, to conserve brass material these were made of brown plastic and sprayed gold to match up to the standard brass buttons previously used, before the wars end a further step to conserve materials the brown plastic buttons were used unpainted. I am sorry to say I can't show you an example of that as all of my US WWII clothing examples were all sold off over the last few years. Note the small surface I scratched on the central button to expose the brown plastic underneath. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 20 March 2O26. … -

Military stuff is my main focus by volume. But I also have a fondness for space program related stuff, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and sci-fi tv/movie stuff, Sherlock Holmes stuff, and old and not so old books. And whatever I spot that hits me as really cool, small and inexpensive . Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), my storage and display areas (and budget) are extremely small so I’ve had to severely restrain my collecting impulses the past 10 years or so. I do love seeing what you and others have gathered and collected. As long as it doesn’t inspire me to get more stuff. mikie -

. Hi Kat, I won't be naughty and keep you hanging around, They are the Brass tips that are squashed onto the ends of cut web straps, obviously they come in varying sizes . The web is laid inside and then the brass cup is squashed after which they end up flat. Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, 20 March 2O26. …
