I love 225Qs, seriously under appreciated in my opinion. Again who knows when it was done but it’s nice to have its original left handed sheath. The modification is rather neat. The coloured plastics look like gaming pieces or poker chips.

It’s going to take me a while to work through it all, I’ll get there eventually. AZnation, I had a feeling you’d get a kick out the knives. I’ll have to have a sit down and give them a bit of a preventative clean and study all of the nuances of the modifications and sheath work.    This M3 is a diamond in the rough, I’ll do a write up on them over the weekend. Who ever created it, put some effort into the handle and possibly took inspiration from a Western shark knife. The handle proportion is very similar in my opinion. The blade geometry has been completely changed, now forming a very strong piercing tip that I can imagine being used for prying open seashells. The blade itself overall could have had a bit more work done for neatness but that obviously wasn’t the purpose, purely function over form with what was available both time wise, skill and material. Who knows when it was done though, any thoughts?    As for its sheath, it’s literally made out of what was to hand. A garrison belt maybe? The crude decorations look really familiar for some reason, I’m positive that I’ve seen similar on another knife here on the forum. Note the way the slanted belt slots, probably worn on the pant belt of some HBTs.

LOL had just the Opposite   Our company got the LBV and since the rest of Bn didnt the CSM (during FTX) forbid us to wear it after we turned in the LBE pouches and y harness   We arrive at Drum everything nicely adjusted and taped , tied   Knucklehead knows we have no LBE and still tell us forbidden to wear   so there we are an entire company carrying mags either in our BDU pockets or the 4 pocket bandoleers from Live ammo, Pistol belts and canteens with MILES harness   Mech authorized 1 Canteen, Light authorized 2

There's a forum member,   MMcollector (I believe), who has a lot of excellent, period ribbon stock and does a beautiful job with the stitching to mimic the original.   Compare the blue stripe in the original drape Jenkins medal (natural lighting, photographed by collector/dealer Adam R.- one of the best medal photographers around) to the blue stipe in your reribboned meda- more vibrant and bright.   MMcollector is down here in So. Cal.    Hope you decide to order the personnel file from NARA St.  Louis, and see if he's one of those two possibles that I found for "Robert Nelson".    If you have access to ancestry.com you possibly might find a pension benefit card for Nelson, similar to the one I found for USS Detroit Phase 2  (same hand engraved that medal as your medal) Sampson medal recipient James D. Smith in post #53 (numbered in upper right of frame).

You are definitely correct, this "section" has nothing to do with military collecting. I didn't say, "this section", I'm speaking for myself and NOT the forum overall. The armchair quarterbacks should be using another plat form.

The one I have is without the wrist straps.   Just from a style and fit perspective, IMHO it looks inferior to the fatigue models just before and after. Too boxy, sleeves too wide, and collar fits awkward.

I loved looking at all the knives you have.  Really nice.  Thanks.

Yes the Embl. trades example was a master with the Star/wreath removed very cleanly. I did not catch that detail when I bought it, as soon as I saw the rare maker I paid.    Thank you for your explanation on the Japanese occupational jump wing. It’s just under 1-1/2” and overall looks smaller than a normal sized jump wing.
