Yeah I was thinking on the way home, probably I'll see some ultra rare item in the future and wonder if that's what I saw.

The photo in the lower stack was from the 1924 around the world flight.    https://text-message.blogs.archives.gov/2024/04/02/celebrating-the-centennial-of-the-first-around-the-world-flight/   The four planes, which were all named after American cities, included the Seattle (No. 1), Chicago (No. 2), Boston (No. 3), and New Orleans (No. 4). The aircrews included Maj. Frederick L. Martin (Pilot and Flight Commander) and Staff Sgt. Alva L. Harvey (Mechanic) for the Seattle; Lt. Lowell H. Smith (Pilot, subsequent Flight Commander) and 1st Lt. Leslie P. Arnold (Mechanic) for the Chicago; 1st Lt. Leigh P. Wade (Pilot) and Staff Sgt. Henry H. Ogden (Mechanic) for the Boston; and Lt. Erik H. Nelson (Pilot – Engineer) and Lt. John Harding Jr. (Chief Mechanic) for the New Orleans.  

What’s in that stack of paperwork?  Any type of award certificates?   Possibly for that bombing badge?    Portrait photos?    Original photos of aircraft?

Awesome photos, I have not seen these before and I collect 405 FG / 509 FS items. LITTLE JOE II - P-47D-30-RA, 44-33415, coded G9-O and flown by Lt. Joe O’Niel  THE TURTLE NO. 10 - P-47D-28-RA, 42-29147, coded G9-K and flown by Capt. Charles Dooney. Lt. Dooney was shot down in this aircraft on 29 December 1944 by 20mm antiaircraft fire and KIA.

Other 509 FS aircraft you posted: VONNIE - P-47D-20-RE, 42-76556, coded G9-V, and flown by LTs W. E. Bort and William McCrystal. One of the rarer olive drab P-47s of the 509 FS… at one point it was fitted with a Malcomn Hood. PEGGY DARLIN’ - P-47D-30-RA, 44-33200, coded G9-C, and flown by Lt. Col. Richard Bender. LOOK! NO HANDS! - P-47D-27-RE, 42-27210 or P-47D-30-RE, 44-21055, coded G9-E and flown by Maj. Chest Van Etten. He would also go on to become a Squadron Commander for the 509 FS after Maj. Blackburn was shot down and killed BALLS OUT (Donald Duck Version), P-47D-28-RA, 42-29170, coded G9-L, and flown by then Lt. Milt Thompson. THE NUTCRACKER - P-47D-28-RE, 44-20204, coded G9-M, and flown by Lt. William McCrystal after VONNIE was sent to the scrap yard. It could also be P-47D-30-RE, 44-20402, coded G9-Q, and flown by 1LT W. Art Barrow, known as “The Brow” JABO - P-47D-22-RE, 42-25990, coded G9-U, and flown by Lt. Robert Hartmann. I think this is a photo of the Razorback version of his  aircraft, as the bubbletop was shot down over Essen on 11 April 1945. EL TEXANO - P-47D-30-RA, 44-32756, coded G9-T, and flown by Capt. Oscar Theis. Interestingly, this aircraft was later flown by Capt. Alton Perrin with the El TEXANO cowling removed and the JINX cowling installed. It could also be 30-RA, 44-32770, coded G9-I or G9-T flown by Capt. Theis.
