Guest sportyriver,    I have been off the USMF forum for a while.  I know who has the documents.  Can you post them?   Gary B

Scipio's The Collar Disk Story does not list a separate 213 Engineer collar disk.  Though his book is not a complete listing of all disks made, it is the most complete listing published.

For the Army, a bronze service star was worn on the American Defense Service Medal to show overseas service during the qualifying period. It was not for any specific action, but service outside the Continental US.

I hope this is allowed...not meant as a promotion, but a genuine tool to help collectors.   Valor Registry grew out of my own needs to properly catalog and organize my medal collection in a digital format. I built this free website and welcome anyone to use it.  Some of the highlights in terms of functionality includes:   Create service member cards and associated medals to that service member. Organize service members into units and hierarchies Search across your entire collection By default, your collection cannot be seen by others. If you opt in, you can make your collection discoverable.  This allows others to view your collection and initiate contact with you.  They do not know who you are until you approve the contact.  This is meant as a way for folks to re-unite broken groups.   The only information required to sign up is a name and email address.  I do not collect anything else (and you can make up a name if you wanted to).   Attached are some screenshots to show capability.   https://www.valorregistry.com/   Thanks Marc

I’m moving my collection into a new bigger room and I want to put my headgear on a shelf. The problem is I can’t find a shelf big enough. I was hoping to display them by making my own display using styrofoam heads and a wood base

Hello! This is my first post. I am a collector of radioactive antiques! I mostly collect non-military items, but there are a few military items I chase after! This is a 1940s/1950s Navy Radium Rope. It was used for marking cargo, outlining landing craft, and used as guidelines for the movement of personnel. Each unit unwinds 5 feet long. Each segment of rope contained 30uCi of Ra226 (or 1.11MBq of activity.) 30uCi is pretty hot! The average wristwatch or clock painted with radium is only around 0.1-1uCi. This is one of those military items that were all supposed to be disposed of after the war, so it's pretty crazy being able to find one intact. I purchased it off a uranium glass collector who found it in a thrift shop. Sadly, the rubber has degraded pretty badly and it is now a dark black colour. No glow is observable on a long exposure photo nor under UV. Still just as radioactive as the day it was made, though! I have gone over the rope multiple times and have not found any radium contamination.
