Originally the hereditary badges had the blue center stripe but sometime in the 1920s or 30s the society decided to use the red center stripe for all members. -

Generally as was said, being ID'ed brings with it the history of the guy who wore it. That being said there are some collectors looking for the "depot queens" of unissued uniforms (even with the cutter tags still affixed) and every so often we get a request for a "Blank" uniform for a funeral, or other event, where they prefer one not named. but I would say 98% of the time a named one is more desirable to a collector.
