Hi I found this bullet exploded underground i. Proximity of Semproniano (Tuscany) near Saturnia. It was rusty but by electrolysis it came back shiny with a lot of acronyms. Even the spoletta has an initials can you tell me what model it is and what are the acronyms? Soon I will forward the acronyms spoletta -

Looks like they may be 2 different style buttons. If so, you can't be sure which, if either, are original to the jacket. The top one, with the raised shield, is definitely an 1870's or later button. Not sure if the lower button originally had a raised shield that now is pushed in a bit, or if it is the style used from the 1850's into the 1870's. But both have backmarks using sans serif letters, which for Waterbury is a style used well after the Civil War and into the 20th century. -
