Hello Folks, I've Posted here some years back, & just came across his Group & Notebook as I continue to go through my Groups. This below is the Document I received from Ms. Alice Juda at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. I've also included my older Post for some background on the Recipient's Service Career. @>>>  This Gentlemen appears to have had an interesting Naval career. He was initially scheduled to graduate with the JANE's class of 1919, but was graduated a year early from Annapolis due to our entry into WW1. ( Grad. date was forwarded to 06-06-1918 ) He served a tour in the Atlantic aboard USS Aylwin on convoy escort & anti-sub duty. Then, he was assigned to the USS Barker to assist in evacuating foreign nationals during the Russian civil war, circa 1920 - 21. ( His USNA Obituary notes he commanded a sub chaser det. in the Russian Crimean evac., but the his file papers state his duty was aboard the Barker ?? ) He did 10 years sub duty at Coco Solo, CZ, along with 3 years as C.O. of S-47. Served as Damage Control Officer aboard the Augusta in 1938, & commanded the Navy's LION 4 unit at Manus Island. Finished up with TD as C.O. of USS Dane during one of the Magic Carpet operations. There's a few assignments I can't recall off hand, but all in all a good solid career. THANKS again Guys, I appreciate the replies. Oh, I guess I should include his name, just for the record. Captain Distance Kenyon DAY, USNA Class of 1919. Born R.I. in 1897, Passed away in FL, 1977.                                          Best, dpast32

Spectacular WWI grouping! That uniform would display great on a torso with the flag hanging behind it. And that pennant is incredible!

Very nice.  Are you missing any that you can't seem to find?

Fantastic all around grouping. So glad it all stayed together during it's transfer to you. Love that pic of him pointing to his stacked overseas bars!

I think this is the identical model as in your pics? But this pic (it's mine) does seem to show the complete "issue" of items with the gun? Or I will assume that it does?   I can't speak a word to what the TOE was as far as the tripod goes, when that became part of the TOE, or if it was ever fielded as such. Perhaps a limited issue item, or added after the machine gun had been accepted and in inventory for a bit? Or in the TOE but never produced and fielded?

A very nice find. It's always interesting to find packets of parts, or any parts still in their original packaging after all these years.

Well, it is the correct size.
