The 1943 Army map shows three bombing ranges around Bouce that are confirmed BAAF bombing ranges and this place is a dozen miles west of that and was designated as a low altitude aireal gunnery range. That map is why I started looking in that area. -

Hey Dave, This site I have been visiting is 30 miles from BAAF, It was a fly over practice range and what I have seen looks like fighter aircraft from BAAF's early days when they were at BAAF. The spread of the links on the ground and the lack of projectile spread around the targets indicate fightes. Early bombers didn't really dump brass and tinks except for the ball turret, I'm seeing six wiide link drops spaced 20+ foot wide on the runups to the targets. The links drops end about 50 to 100 yards from targets, that indicates they are diving at targets. Bombers do not do that. I have found dirt roads that have clearly been straifed. My sisters friend did come up on a spot that is on the edge of Blythe AAB proper that has the hall marks of something like you describe. I have not seen it yet but it is a paved road that runs parallel to the hills. The only thing found has been spent projectiles at the base of the hills, No links, no brass. This site is too close to BAAF to be fly over practice , I think they were firing from trucks that had been modified. The lack of links or shells points me in that direction. That short shell case was from a pilot clearing a jam in a gun with the gun charger. There is no way a person could split a shell in two by hand, -

I've seen souvenir jackets with these types of types of tabs running up the arms. They show where the service member has been. -
