Hi Steve, I too think it is real. The fake ones are just so obvious and I done think anyone has done a repro that comes this close to a real one. I don't know why we don't see a contractors stamp or label of some kind. Maybe it just got missed when made. I agree with you also that I think it has been sitting for so long due largely to the price. He is asking at least $200-$250 more than the market value even taking into account t the nice condition. -

There's somewhat more to it. The Chauffeur insignia represents a automobile tire. The wheel, and spokes are thicker. The tire looks like a rubber tire. The Wagoner insignia resembles a wooden wagon wheel. -

A driver for an officer would likely have an almost identical specialty badge as the wagoneer's insignia, which is what's sewn onto the above posted service coat. Just for the record, the shape and size of the wheel and spokes on the Wagoneer and Chauffer's insignia are basically the same. The difference between the two is that the waggoneer's wheel has eight spokes, and the chauffer's wheel has twelve spokes. -

FOLLOW UP -->> From the "Pave Cave" 1973 - February 01: A HH-53C #69-05786 (Call sign "Jolly Green 30") from the 40th ARRS at Nakhon Phanom RTAFB, Thailand, crewed by Capt. Stephen L. Gemlich (P), unkn (CP), unkn (FE), unkn (PJ) and unkn (PJ) rescued a ground team (Call sign "Miles 01"), Maj Pugh and two indigenous troops in contact. No other details are available currently.
