Picked this up this weekend at a very reasonable price. I only have one other to compare it to, an 1864 Roby. My question is, have yall ever seen a sword with the leather grip wrap being seamed in the forward position? Everything is tight and seems right to me. No inspector marks on drag or guard. Gonna cross post at CWT. Thanks for looking! -

Nice, hope it can IDed. On the Blue Plastic disc it's probably is one of those flat faced ones made for Domed Discs and on Ebay these are hard to find sorry to say, both matching pairs, and single loose examples, post a photo of the existing one in any event for us to see. You'll also as you guessed need as Blue Rope, those are easier to find on Ebay , as long as you don't buy a 1990s to current one, these being Polyester, the one you need will be made of Rayon, getting one that was made in 1953 or 1958 will be the same as one made in 1965 or 1979 or 1983, it will be Rayon, believe the switch to Poly happens in the 90s. -

You could probably figure out what unit he was with down to the company level just with those names. If you liked them up through ancestry and such with those addresses and find a consistent unit they are with it’s definetly possible to find out a lot more about the owner. -

Good point, there is a definitive list of triple recipients which may produce a recipient of this combo. -

I have a "We're in the Army Now" diary, that has a few entries in it from somewhere in France, September 1944, I believe. I'm afraid it might have been some of the soldiers last writings. The last entry was " Guns boom all around". There are a few names and addresses of officers that he knew, but his name isn't anywhere in the diary. I did a little research on it a few months ago, but I can't remember what all I found on it. I think his unit was with Patton on the Western Front. I think he mistakenly put his last entry in the space for October, instead of September. I sure would like to find out who he was and possibly return it to his family. My sister charged me a lot for it. I'm not sure what to do with it really. I'll try to post a couple pictures here. I'd like to find out what it's worth.
