I would doubt it. If it was used at a military academy, it would not be abused like that at an academy. An academy would not allow that kind of damage to its stock... I dont know how long it has been since Americans last used swords in combat? Before WW1.... ? Spanish American War? But I would bet it was before your sword was made....   More likely it was abused by someones kid or grand kids playing war in the back yard... Just my opinion.

Nothing special, but here's a soldier in the Signal Corps.

I've added some details about this Saber sword. I think its original owner's descendants may have used it very violently, causing the scabbard to be deformed and covered in knife marks. There's deformation at the guard and the hilt joint.

I'm familiar with this forum; it's very helpful for research, and I often have the same questions as others here.   A bit about me: I began collecting in 2016 and have since accumulated hundreds of items. While my collection itself started in 2016, it officially began operating under the name Heritage and Honor in 2023. I know that Ebay is strict with the knuckles but if you check Gunbroker there are plenty on there.  No OCL's or Diston's though.
