okay thank you i would never claim it's original if i add something but i think i can find the right size as i already have a jacket with a logistics patch on it

I understand where you are coming from. However.... You know the patch wasn't original to the jacket and you're not trying to fool anyone and as long as you're not claiming your creation to be something it's not, who cares. The patch can still removed and the jacket is still original to be used for a different form of display. Your real issue may be size, as we seem to be "bigger" in frame than they were back then. Make your project and wear it with pride. In the end, it's just clothing.

I think you have done a nice job of memorializing MTSGT Dumary, so congratulations on that. What I am seeing here in the group of medals are medals that could not have belonged to the Marine that you are honoring. The Air Medal and Purple Heart medal cases are both Type 2 cases and are undoubtedly what his original medals came in. This is where the story ends. None of the medals that came in the cases could have been MTSGT Dumary's medals. The two medals that originally came in the cases would have been Navy strikes and would have been named. The DFC and Air Medal in the first case are NOT navy strikes. Additionally, the Navy and Marine Corps would have used gold stars instead of oakleaf clusters to denote additional awards. The oak leaf clusters on the Air Medal were most likely awarded to someone in the Air Force. The Air Medal appears to be Vietnam era or later. By the time that medal would have been awarded, the army would have already converted to using numerals on the Air Medal. In the second case, we find a Vietnam era Navy Good Conduct medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal. Neither would have been awarded to MTSGT Dumary.   Based on what I see, I think that someone simply put some random medals in the cases. Whether that was the antique dealer or someone else may never be known.   Hopefully, Dumary's medals will surface someday.   Allan

i would want a replica because i fell bad about putting a patch or something like that on an original. I may see if I can just get an unissued one

Ike jackets can come pretty cheap. Why fret getting a repo when inexpensive originals are out there.

Ive picked up another, what I think is another theater made dagger, so I will just include it here rather making a new post. Cheers!

I dont know where you could buy a fake Ike jacket but ebay has very cheap options when it comes to them here is one.   https://www.ebay.com/itm/206110878801?_skw=Ike+jackett&itmmeta=01KKES9XKDXN94X328K0PA6HK7&hash=item2ffd2a6c51:g:NsYAAeSwGmhpqHI9&itmprp=enc%3AAQALAAAA0GfYFPkwiKCW4ZNSs2u11xDcsgb70elzojsvgPILJKGychLupslLradNXWZzHqCe72LQ75njvWJJQYKHQNq5DjEi0Tau1UqeI%2FdEwRYgUYGc%2BW4GLSewmCSValAjZ%2FMv4FjKI9L2CH7ZkQo8PHbFf%2BVB0e0dgkj5BwhyCWP4jpU7QWLBufWksP6ZYmPiNPBm%2FgWlASufls0kCm0Y1eKotioMctvpFF%2B6AHVaZ59H3KIVOzoh%2FhZ586Y2RD1Psnoec5e%2FU1ppltdn4AZNdHBIEYQ%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4jbp9mbZw
