Great display. Still sitting there? Your last post is a mouth full. So few newer collectors fail to use "context" to direct their purchases. They see random items, are caught having never studied the items, and ask time sensitive questions. We all have done that but so many appear to ignore the great archive of period photos available to them for study. So much can be learned by comparing things photographed over a 5 or so year period. Long ago I began asking where I've seen things historically photographed rather than just if the collective opinion is that it might have been used. I find that what was commonly worn and used is easily identifiable in some pics but what is typically popular to collect is what is found in everyone else's collections. Dave -

The two collar disks on your blouse are a "US National Guard" disk and a Montana state disk. Typically, you would expect to see a branch disk where the Montana disk is positioned. Since the PFC rank on the wear's right sleeve is Infantry, I would expect to see an infantry collar disk. The MONT collar disk was typically worn by State Guard or Militia. I would assume that the former owner wore the Montana disk until his unit was federalized at which point they would have changed to the National Guard disk. Hope this helps. Allan -

How about this one? Same deal with this one , can find a few on ebay listed as military but the only information I saw suggested it could be navy. -

Nevermind on the ID! I believe the H I'm seeing in the cap is a faded A which would match to Mrs. Moore's husband, Alonzo Renfroe Moore. A newspaper article with his obituary states he was a B-24 pilot. -

Greetings all. I thought some of you would like to see these displays. All WW2 except for the green flight helmet on the left under the M3 flak helmet. Thats the last post war leather flight helmet with comms. I have an A11 for it, I just have not swapped it in. Enjoy! -

Picked up this small grouping of caps off Facebook Marketplace last month. Unfortunately, they're in rough condition. The brown & cadet cap can for sure be reformed (need some advice on how to do that) but the true Bancroft flighter in tan is just melted on the inside. I believe the plastic, or whatever the liner was made out of, melted in the heat & is now all stuck together. The brown crusher has the name of H. Moore, I assume to be the husband of Virginia T. Moore, whose resignation document also came from the same trunk the grouping was found with. Unfortunately, the seller said he didn't have any other stuff that went with it. Looking for help on ID'ing the soldier & needing advice on how to properly care for these caps and hopefully get them looking better. -

Thanks Leigh. In the past few months I’ve posted a few questions (concerns) about helmets and knives. Also just general question(s) about items I’ve seen at shows, on the forum or other online sites. -
