From you're pictures, I have no reason to think that there is anything wrong with the scabbard. It's a WWII scabbard used on an older bayonet. It looks real to me. The bayonet looks fine too. It was refurbished by parkerizing the blade. The grips were replaced at some time, but other than that, you have a nice combination. Marv -

I think the peak time for finding WWII-era things at the Thrifts stores was the 1990s. I used to find something every week. After that, it was maybe once a month, then once every couple of months, then only once in a while. In the 1990s, the 50th Anniversary of WWII, vets were entering that age when people start to die (their 70s) or move out of their houses. Now the vets are mostly gone. Most of the stuff has been distributed out or sold off. -

I see duffel bags sometimes but I think the most common item for me is unpatched (usually BDU'S) uniforms. -

Yeah guess I am just lucky, there is a flea market near me that sometimes is good. Got a pasgt helmet for $20 dollars there. -

You got it right about the duffel bags. Those things are a dime a dozen and at least for me are everywhere. -

Good Morning Guys, Hopefully, I'm not violating any Forum Rules here by Posting this, & am only doing so to perhaps assist some other Collector in obtaining the Original Award Document / Letter which would have formerly accompanied the USMC GCM it matches. Hopefully someone here might have the Matching USMC Medal, No. 18794 / Date Noted 23 June 1922. ( PLEASE NOTE; I can not attest to this Document's Authenticity, so act accordingly !! ) Best regards, Dom P.
