Just added the tab for the handle, used an old split pin as a “button” to secure it -

. Carentan decorations for 82nd anniversary year. Things are happening all around Normandy especially in Carentan, here is a display of over two thousand flags at the town side of Purple Hear Lane which basically runs down from Deadman's Corner museum into the town. At this end of the lane is where the famous Colonel Cole bayonet charge happened. I spent half the day helping out at the Longest yarn display, I saw empty wall space in the building and suggested that some shelves were added to display the sales items which help to fund the veterans charities the Longest Yarn supports. We ran out of time to totally fill the shelves today but that will be done in the next few days. Johan called in to see us while he was in Carentan, and purchased a pack of the ' Jeep ' Christmas cards, and laughed saying I would probably be getting one back addressed to me at Christmas. Some things from today. Couple 105mm projectiles from '68 and '70 no fuzes. Nice nurse poster from 1944. A ship home crate from someone in the Coast Guard. Tailfins to a 750lb. bomb. Don't know why the holes are punched in the fins. They are all the same pattern and angled the same way. And a Welson-Davis suspension in a liner. Last week somebody had a Ford No. 8 experimental but he wanted to much. Thanks. Greg. -

Definetly, it was very fun, but extremely frustrating doing it without the proper tools. I will definitely go and do the screw driver thing you mentioned as well. The ones you made a while back actually got me hooked on doing this and I was hoping/glad you chimed in 😊 -

Fantastic effort, its actually oddly got a certain charm to it that fits with the state of the knife itself. What you could do, is find yourself a smooth screwdriver handle (preferably wood), use the end of the handle and press down on the fibers of the leather. You can also run it quickly along the edges too, essentially burnishing the leather. Maybe you'll find yourself wanting to make more leather goods, and learn a fun skill set along the way. -

Ha, arrived in Normandy and met up with Ken and Mike at the Longest Yarn Exhibition in Carentan today. The day started with slight drizzle, but weather improved during the day and ended with loads of sunshine and excellent Jeeping conditions. Hadnt taken the Jeep to Normandy since 1999 and was glad to put 60 miles on it roaming the countryside around Carentan today. After dinner a friend and I had a drink at the seaside and I couldnt resist taking another photo of the Jeep in the evening Sun. -

Keep them together with the box. I also got one NIW from the original seller above but it took well over a year. Happy with the knife but it was a struggle to obtain.
