That was my thought too. When I would hunt I took a spreader bar and pully with me and would hoist on a tree limb. There are no trees in the Mojave and that was a large Fort with many mouths to feed. As best I can tell on the 1879 map the location of that photo is not far from the stabels. I think 3 kitchens are placed around the camp. with no ice house or refrigeration and plenty of grazing for cattle around the Fort beef would be on the menue 7 days a week. -

THANKS Josh, I should have figured such !! Up until I was offered this Group I had yet to encounter one. I was fond of the fact that when the War ended, my Ensign or LTJG, I can't recall which without checking his Notebook was on Patrol aboard a Submarine in the Sea of Japan. A most appropriate way for a Naval Officer to end the War in my opinion. Best, Dom P. -

Thanks Randy! I believe you are right about being Japanese made. I have a number of his white name tapes, bunched together in a thin paper with a Japanese name (in English) printed on it. I have his biography written down here somewhere, just not easy to get to at the moment. I think I have one of his dark green fatigue tops too that is patched and has one of his white name tapes on it. I THINK I know where it is! -

Very interesting Matt, I enjoy finding out about the person behind the dog tag! And he was an Oregon guy too! I also have a good friend that moved to Hayden Idaho., small world. Thanks for sharing. -

Interesting information on the side bars which I was not aware of. Here are a few more pics. -

You’re fine, both original. Nobody is producing them to that quality and accuracy, and neither can you readily find the hardware needed that is spot on. Well done, good stuff is still out there.
