Yes, it was definitely opened before as there is tape residue on container. Also when I reexamined photos here I can see plastic wrap on petroleum jelly tube. I think I'll just open it and check it out since the cherry was already popped so to speak. Thanks for your input. -

Hello, I am looking for a copy of the 665th Engineer Topographic Battalion's unit history for 1945. I know that it exists (see a past auction preserved at worthpoint: 665th Engineer Topographic US Army WWII unit history Ohrdruf Concentration Camp | #400807207). Specifically, I am interested to know their route / bases in 1945 in Germany. Does anyone have information about this Battalion? Thank you. Roger -

That must’ve been incredible to witness—an F-14 going vertical in full afterburner sounds like the definition of “ear-splitting”! I’ve only heard recordings, but I can imagine the chest-thumping roar in person. Totally agree about the C-5 too. It’s not sharp like a fighter jet, but the deep rumble of those turbofans feels like it shakes the ground. Ever heard one taxi by up close? That’s a whole different kind of loud! -

Thanks for that Ken, a Fram seems to be on most of the original WW2 photo's I have seen with slatties with their hood open. I have never seen or heard of proof that either Purolator or Fram were exclusively used at a certain date or frame number batch so I'm good with the Purolator till a nice Fram comes along for a good price. A friend has one in his spare parts stash that he was unwilling to sell, but maybe he would be interested in a trade (he has a GPW). I'll ask him next time I see him. Purolator or Fram, it will be an improvement over the visually different (smaller) post-war CJ filter housing I used till now. For those still awake, there are some visual differences between Purolator and Fram oil filter housings as can be seen here: Yesterday I had another delivery, from the US this time and it in was my new stencil set for the factory hood number, along with a set of radiator seals (not pictured)! The last bigger and harder to find parts that I'll need are a 'GAS'-marked fuel gauge and a hinged Filterette, but I'm sure those will pop up sometime. 😊 -

Loudest..? That would have been an F-14 Tomcat, full afterburner, vertical climb. Andrews AFB, Armed Forces Day, 1977. In a different way, C-5s are quite loud. Loudest turbofans anyway.
