I am helping someone research their grandfather’s WW2 and Korea service, the patches were part of his service collection.  I strongly doubt he will sell them, instead he should frame them.   Curious, his records only indicate 2 carriers (Antietam - WW2 & Wright - Korea), why would the VT-51 patch be there?

My dad ( Floyd D. Harvey)was posted to the Swallow as a Gunner’s Mate first class.  He was on leave when orders came in to go to sea and a train breakdown caused my father to miss the sailing.  Guilt plagued him all his life.

Having gotten a few more references, it appears at least some of the Liege exports had a bigger “ring” than the French model they were copying. I found an example with the beehive in the ABC guide (Atlas Baïonnette de Collection) volume 3 (2009) by Vial

I actually just saw this offered up on facebook this morning. The engraving doesn't match any known type for the US government, so in my opinion, this was engraved at some point long after he was KIA and had no connection to the next of kin.

I will add it has taken years( decades)  to find the containers to match the rounds, most crate dates match the year marked on the round. Crates are much harder to find than the actual round itself.

I was trying to find it but I didn't find anything matching in my files.    CAG-89 from USS Antienam Here is VB-89  VT-89   VF-89     About the sailor from the photo, I'm not sure, sorry.    In my opinion, both of your patches are WW2 made. Why did you ask? We would see them somewhere for sale soon?

Okay, I will start it off, pics of ammunition containers….the best part, all these ammo crates have the correct ordnance pieces inside. Normally in my “ museum”, but I drag them out to Events a couple times a year….a major effort.

I cant find too much else about him, but from what I do know is that he was on D-day either on a C-46 or C-47 delivering troops or supplies on d day. Helped delivered the 82nd    The 86th Troop Carrier Squadron would in multiple other airborne assaults, such as dragoon, market garden, and varsity.   He most likely was in these assaults as well. If anyone can find out more about Robert Bruckner I would appreciate it greatly

That is awesome! Most of these end up in the landfill anyway, so being able to have them displayed and hopefully inspire future members of the Navy is really great.

Great thank you for clarifying, what about the patch on his jacket in the photo?     He was assigned to the USS Antietam in WW2, when it was launched.  Are those patches from WW2 or Korea?   Also, he served as an aviation gunner in WW2 but changed to an aviation radioman and served aboard the USS Wright (CVL-49) during the Korean War.   This same VT-95 patch for sale says it was aboard USS Antietam. https://www.flyingtigerantiques.com/rare-late-wwii-us-navy-vt-95-jacket-patch-for-torpedo-attack-sq-on-board-uss-antietam.html
