Thank you all for the input. Most of the rack numbers I've seen were stenciled on the butt. Like so many of these old pieces, we will most likely never know. This is the last of my collection and it's time for me to move it on to someone else. I'll let the next owner continue the work to find an answer that was started about 40 years ago. Again, many thanks. Dennis

I found a 1869 US Army survey map of Camp Mojave in a historical society collection. It took me forever to down load it. The map was very large and very detailed. The map calls this the ferry crossing, not Beal's crossing, I think they are one and the same, but the map also shows an unnamed path down to the Colorado in front of Camp. The map also shows a square footprint for the Camp. not a rectangle. It notes the few standing buildings and the sites for new buildings being planed. The Camp in 1869 looks nothing like the later photo's.

. Hi mikie,      NEVER heard of this series, as you say the story of John Steele in Ste Mere Eglise would have been where the idea came from, can't say I am interested enough to try and find it,  Some of those 1960's tv series were good for falling asleep to, the acting second or even third rate.    Norman D. Here's some of my collection of these Mexican Border pennants as well as some accompanying photographs from the time period.                   Small holster for toy gun.       Note:  This photo shows a camp of the First Arizona Infantry at Naco, Arizona.   In this photograph you'll see Colonel Alexander M Tuthill of the First Arizona Infantry.  He's atop the closest horse in the middle.   Photo shows men of the First Arizona Infantry marching to Tombstone, Arizona.   This photo shows the 22nd US Infantry Band playing at a Sunday evening concert in Douglas, Arizona.   I believe this photo shows folks saying their good-byes to soldiers at the train in Flagstaff, Arizona.   Photograph of the 18th US Infantry, exact location unknown but believed to be somewhere in Arizona.   Souvenir compact for the ladies.   Location:  In Arizona.  Exact location in description below.   Location:  In Arizona.  Exact location in description below.   Location:  In Arizona.  Exact location in description below.
