I did a search trying to find out more about CAPT Walter A. Johnson, O-472792 325 GIR and discovered that someone from the forum had previously posted about finding something of his in a thrift shop. For some reason, I could not open or find the thread. Here is a screenshot of what the search produced. Any help is appreciated. I will also post in the individual research section. -

. I made another slip up this week. While still helping to finish the wooden Jeep at the Longest Yarn exhibition some interesting people have passed through to see it. One gentleman from Tennessee opened up in conversation to show us a photograph of him with Norman Schwarzkopf during the 1990 Gulf War he was one of the MP detail guarding and driving around with the Coalition Commander during that time. He had a photograph of himself stood next to Schwarzkopf shaking hands, I failed to get a copy of that to post here. He actually stood taller than Schwarzkopf. Norman D. . hi mikie, Tony Hancock made this blood donor skit in 1961 while I was still in school, and I think he died around 1968, but this little episode of the blood donor keeps appearing on tv or social media through the years since, it's almost written into folklore. Thank you so much for checking that number! However, I think that entry might be from the Spanish War Service Medal roster book. My medal is actually the combat U.S. Army Spanish Campaign Medal—it features the Morro Castle stone tower on the front with the text "WAR WITH SPAIN" and is clearly stamped No. 1702 on the bottom rim. Would you or anyone else mind checking the master ledger for the Army Campaign Medal rolls instead to see who received this specific piece? I really appreciate the help! -

Greetings - Spanish War Service Medal #1702 was issued to Henry L. Francis from Roanoke, Virginia. It appears that Corporal Francis served in Company F, 1st Battalion (formerly Roanoke Machine Works Guards) of the 2nd Virginia Volunteer Infantry. Virginia Tech evidently has a collection of letters that he (and his brother) wrote to their mother during his time of service. Specific to the "Scope and Content": "Most of Henry Francis's letters are written from Camp Cuba Libre (Jacksonville, Florida) and relate to personal matters, chiefly the trouble he is having with estranged wife Harriet (usually referred to in the letters as "H"). He touches only briefly on military affairs. His final letter discusses his imminent return home." Link here: https://aspace.lib.vt.edu/repositories/2/resources/1632 -

Hello everyone, I am trying to research the original recipient of a U.S. Army Spanish Campaign Medal. The bottom rim is clearly stamped with the prefix and number: No. 1702. Does anyone have access to the Gleim Medal Rolls or the master roster book who would be willing to look up this serial number to see if it is traceable? Thank you so much for your time and help! -

Does anyone have any information on William Robertson of the 529th Bombardment Squadron? I've found evidence of him having a crew known as "Robertson's Crew" with a plane named Gypsy, and an accident occuring on March 5th, 1944 which killed 4 of his crew members. I am trying to determine if this William Robertson is William Harvey Robertson, my great-grandfather. -
