Looking back at it, it does read weird. I was just throwing out the idea that the helmet was used in the field without the 1st ID insignia thus gathering wear. and later come occupation era the insignia was applied on a already weathered helmet explaining why it looked off. I am definitely on the side it was applied and artificially weathered. I was just trying to offer a different way to look at it. -

This`trip`was`to`get`a`lay`of`the`land.`Just`walking`around`I`found`bomb`shrapnel`all`over`and`next`to`the`road`in`front`of`the`barbed`wire`were`two`1943`dated`30-06`shells.`Behind`those`stacked`rocks`was`the`broken`end`of`a`pick`maddox.`It's`a`massive`area.` -
