I'm wondering if a first sgt wouldn't have been armed with a pistol rather than a rifle?

1st Battalion would be flamethrowers and demolition, 2nd Battalion would be shore party and 3rd Battalion would be a USN NCB- that is the T O and E for the USMC 17-20 Marine Regiments which were engineering regiments.    Kurt

The 110th FA unit history indicates that Battery E did exist when the 110th FA Regiment entered Federal Service on 3 Feb 41. However, during Mar 42, Battery E became Battery B 224th FAB 29th ID.    "The 224th landed on June 7th, 1944 on D+1.  Coupled with the 175th Infantry, it was scheduled to land on D-Day but was held back a day because of the chaos on the beach. SS that is a really cool helmet for a Fireman Apprentice on the floating dry-dock. That’s exactly the same helmet type as mine in post #1. Thanks for posting!!!

to top it all off im sure  the jerk that took it has no clue what he has. As for the post office thats stupidity beyoung belief. They know that it wont lock ? Really stupid. IMO some one should be fired.  but that might be considered harsh punishment. My uncle put in almost 50 years in United States Post Office when it was...Back then you were responsible. As a kid collecting stamps he told me unless they fell off a package and were laying on the floor, they couldnt touch a stamp on the mail. They would be fired. Times sure have changed.

Sorry to hear this.   The post office is soon reaching its tipping point to worthlessness as it continues its slide towards horrible service at every level.   Shipping US mail since since the mid 70s on a consistent basis and never have I had so many problems as I do at present.   The government should sell it to someone who can do it correctly.   For them to leave your package open to the public and not hold it back until you come to pick it up is the sign of stupidity or inside theft.   Wishing you success in finding this.   Peter
