It’s a new one on me. So I’ll give credit for it to the British. I’ll give a try of transplanting it to the States. mikie -

Got this awesome Ike Jacket thats got some patches that tell a great story recently. From what I can gather, the SSgt who owned this jacket was at one point in a unit assigned to the 5th Army, and saw 9 years of honorable service and 2.5 years of active combat, as denoted by the service bars & hashtags. My best guess is he had at one point been a part a unit of the 5th Army before being reassigned to the 40th Infantry Division under the 8th Army during the Korean War, since the 40th ID was never a part of the 5th Army. Im not entirely sure, so if anyone could help in anyway I'd greatly appreciate it as I've never owned an Ike Jacket before. I am also curious if the jacket is a private purchase, as there are no interior pockets and no tag(s) or stamp(s). I am also curious about (what I believe to be) the metal tension locks around the inside of the jacket. Overall a neat jacket even though its got some wear and damage, and the second I saw the Ball of Fire 40th ID patch I knew it was a cool one. -

I evidently wasn't much help but hopefully someone else will be. I only had a limited amount of college so I don't know a cantle from a billet, lol. Anyway, take care and God Bless!
