As a supplement to the information provided, there are over 5700 entries shown on Navy Muster Rolls as well as over 1500 USMC Muster Roll entries for "Birch" on ancestry.com. Without additional data it will be difficult to determine the owner of this jumper. Larry -

One was a tank Destroyer unit I had two German made DIs and two armor patches with hand written numbers in ink. The other one I pitched before I knew what it was. I had never seen one before and I didn’t think anyone would take it serious. It was someone on the forum who hasn’t posted in a while who told me that my hand written tank destroyer wasn’t a joke. I questioned the vet about it and he admitted to doing it during and right after the war. Something tells me I posted it on the forum somewhere. -

I bought a collection that smelled like mildew and musk I simply hung everything out on the wash line for about a week and then brought it in and the smell went away, be careful not to use chemicals. I also had a German helmet that was in a fire and the liner smelled of smoke, I put the liner in a ziplock bag with mothballs and about a year later the smell was gone. It takes time to get rid of smells but it can be done -

This is a little bit outside of the scope of this thread, but the lighter was too cool not to post: This lighter celebrates the space flight of Vietnam and Soviet Union astronauts. 1980 Soyuz 37 mission. “Lien Xo” translates as “Soviet Union” on the helmet of the astronaut on the right. -

Lets restart this This was posted by a Guest, username altenhok back on December 24, 2023, he presumably never logged back on to USMF, as his avatar is a default type and is non clickable, so we guess his account is Inactive, even thought it doesn't state it Anyway, anybody got an idea, on the original topic nobody knew, me included, whole shirt looks thoroughly GI, 2nd Pattern OG shirt nothing fashion piece like about it. -

I'm not sure I see any mockery in any of these responses. I just see collectors and experts of the exact sort of thing you're sharing giving you what it actually is. Wade -

Hello, I am sure others know more about this than I do. However, I understand the problems a smelly relic can bring. Others may disagree, but if it were me, I would wash with soap and water, let it air dry, And if smell persists, then dump a couple of bottles of febreeze on it (or soak it). Let it dry. Then I would then rinse it again and let air dry. That is what I would do. Someone may chime and warn of possible long-term effects of febreeze. If so, then do not use it. But I have not heard of any. But the studies of long-term effects of febreeze are still not in... I had a relic that stank. My wife would not let me put it in the house it stunk so bad. But I basically did what I mentioned and let it air dry for a long time under protected cover. Today it has no smell. And that was about 7 years ago, and I have seen no ill-effects of the febreeze. Sorry if this is of no help. Like I said, others may have a better method. But for me when it came down to it, I either had to get rid of the smell, or move the relic on. -

I have no pride in circumventing you, but I have gratitude and respect and I only want relevant information, so far you have only given me mockery, that I have nothing, I provided you with everything, you gave me nothing and that saddens me, and actually it also saddens me that, as I wrote, I am donating part to war veterans and back to the people who sold me this shirt at the 'Plzeň Celebrations'. -

You're correct. The Post was named after Herbert Lee Webster, the father from WWI Here's the full document of his WWI US Army Transport record if you want to download it. Webster Hernert L.pdf
