Hey guys, I just figured I post about this little item that I've only ran across once...SURVIVAL KIT MATCHES. A small plastic bag containing 15 individual packets of 2 Strike Anywhere matches each. The packets look vety similar to those found in the SRU-16/P Survival Kits. Instruction card also has a striking strip. I obtained these many years ago along with some Army Survival First Aid Kits (plastic bag with string & button closure) and a few other larger kit bits. Kind of cool, I guess. Cheers

👍 While the WWII buff in me cringes at the post war modifications to wartime jeeps, the in-general history buff in me thinks these jeeps that saw long service well after the war are fascinating in their own right. While probably a nightmare from a mechanics point of view, one with a wide mix of parts and modifications, all marked and tagged, to me would make the perfect example of this whole process.  mikie

Thanks KurtA for the clarification…recently acquired (purchased).   …I was surprised to see them but like all flea markets….you don’t know what you will find…it’s all about the hunt.

Hi, I'm trying to restore the original visor of a 1966 HGU 2A/P which has a piece broken off. Can anyone tell me what type of plastic it would be made of (PLA, PET, ABS)  ? Manufacturer is Gentex Cheers

Hi everyone, I bought a boom mike off ebay to fit to an HGU 2A/P im restoring as a FAC helmet. It came with a chrome clip attached. Anyone got a photo of this clip fitted to a helmet/boom mike please. Photo of the clip attached. Cheers

There is no definitive or circumstantial evidence in any way to remotely prove that this helmet was from a Marine Raider. It seems to me the helmet is referencing MCB Quantico Virginia 1961. The Marine wrote his last name on the helmet and painted couple different symbols as a souvenir helmet.

      What was cost of patches?

Thanks for the comments!!  Thats why I posted it, thought it was worth some research!!  The 61' could possibly be a year reference.  Have you ever seen original WWII Marine Raider patches? These look worse then the supposed clown on the back of the helmet.  Hopefully you don't own these!!!  Lol!!
