Hello Is this a Civil war era US Officers Belt and buckle? I was told, (hard to read) that the belt marking is watervleit Arsenal NY. The Buckle is marked #326. There is also a mark on the belt leather -it appears that it is GB?? Thank you  

Bannermans had thousands of them. It was common for dealers to pull the NY state plate off and put a 1881 US plate on.

"I. C." stands for Inspected & Condemned. The helmet body was deemed unserviceable and turned in for sale as surplus, or destroyed.

A few years ago my wife and I went to the American Military Heritage Museum in Enid, Oklahoma.  I had no idea what we would see there but the museum was new and it was located inside an unused shopping mall.  Anyway, once inside I was amazed at just how much this museum had inside its space and the variety of items from many wars.  My wife and I were the only ones in there at the time and after I got done introducing myself to one of the curators personally took me around and showed me many interesting exhibits.  After telling him that I collected 40th Infantry Division uniforms, etc. he showed me the WWI uniform below which is amazing.  I absolutely love that 40th Sunshine patch!  The condition of the uniform is excellent in every way.  I sure wish I had it in my collection but it was so awesome to see it.  He also took me back where they keep all the uniforms that other items they have yet to go through.  So many nice things!  Another really neat thing the curator allowed me to do climb up and sit in the cockpit of a MIG-15.  Super cool.  It was a tight fit.  If anyone ever is up that way I would highly recommend a stop there and allow some time.  You're going to enjoy it.  The address is:  4125 W Owen K Garriott Rd, Enid, OK 73703                                           40th Division - Bert A Horrall_26 Ancestry - Bert Almon Horrall .pdf
