Found this little gem of collar insignia in storage recently.  Missing a few companies but this is one hell of a start!  A few traders to get those missing.  Too cool.

To quibble a bit, the WWII aircraft vintage wings tended to use a different, unique forcer that gave the back a more "pinched" view.  After the war, the a number of companies (such as Dondero using the D2 alpha/numeric code IIRC) also used these patterns.  The back was different with a much softer look, like the OP wing.   If I had to guess, this is likely a KW/post KW USAF bombardier wing that is commonly seen as a transition from the USAAF to the USAF insignia.  Not terribly uncommon, but still a neat wing.   P

My guess is that these are either more recent fakes because they look "too good" or perhaps post war/cold war vintage wings. I have had English made wings that dated to the 60's that were like this.  I am leaning towards someone look one of the more recent vintage wings and changed the pin to look like a WWII vintage badge. But the thing about these English made wings, you kind of have to decide for yourself.

This is an Amcraft pattern wing.  I think ones like this made from Observer base wings are less common.  The attached bomb is the normal Amcraft pattern one.  These bombs may have all been struck from brass and then sterling plated, but I don't know that for sure.  The loss of the sterling from the bomb would leave the the "copper" color.  I can't tell if the damage/ground down edge of the observer edge was a die flaw or damage done sometime after it was struck.

Thoughts on this please. These are the only pics I have (in a lot of medals in an auction listing).

It only took me about 5 years, but here is an update on Warren Guyton’s Through-the-Mail autograph collection. I eventually managed to pick up some more of his collection, filed them away and forgot about them. I just unearthed them today. Some are addressed to him on the Natchez, and some to him at the Brooklyn Navy Hospital. Far and away my fave of the group was from Minnie Pearl. All in all, a neat little peek into the life of a sailor keeping amused during the war.  Does anyone else have similar items in your collections? If so, I’d love to see them.  mikie

Looks to be pre 1963 with no zip code after the N.Y. address. The guy had 2 bottles. I thought the one with the Scotties looked neat.
