Don’t recall if I already posted these matches on not:     These came in the “Accessory Pack” (also called a “Comfort Pack”) in the Vietnam era C-Rations (technically, they were “Meals, Combat, Individual”). And they were one of the reasons everyone had to purchase a lighter. I think these matches only worked perhaps 50% of the time.

I concur with VMI88 about the cast neck. That would not be the norm. That said there is a similar commercial drum with what appears to be a cast spout on pg 73 of US Army & Militia Canteens 1775-1910, Mike O'Donnell. Drum canteens can be difficult to authenticate, but again as VMI88 stated, there's been about a zillion repro canteens made since the 70's. I see old Jarnagin tinware for sale as original regularly. I've got a reasonable 58 canteen collection, but never pulled the trigger on a tin drum for the above reasons. Interesting canteen regardless. I just found this today, and have no idea what LRRP unit this is supposed to represent. Nor do I have any idea about authenticity. Any help would be appreciated.

These are hard to find so I can’t imagine how hard it is in Germany.   Im sure they bring a lot of money in Germany if you could find one there.   Is there a tariff?
