i found this knife in the utility closet at my home in the Netherlands. It looks like a western l71. but the handle is bakalite with fiber, copper and plastic spacers. The pommel is screwed on on a 3/16" thread. Can somebody shine some light on it? is it a WWII knife or younger? -

I know it’s a double edge sword, but if you make his name more easily searchable it might help get the hits you seek. Or some one from the woodwork might come knocking too. You never know on here. -

Infantryman of the 31st Infantry Division all decked out with Infantry branch accoutrements - shoulder cord, bib and collar disc backings. I wonder if this was authorized for wear on post like thios or if he just posed this way for the photo. -

Thanks for your reply, that's what I was thinking also. Might not be standard issue but would be period correct and to me looks better than a naked sword. -

Thanks y'all! Sadly no labels in these, just the hat size on the elastic part -

The command patch on the chest and name plate are the only patches attached on the “new” A2s no flags or squadron patches✌️👍🇺🇸 -

I think you’re right Jeffro. That makes much better sense. Thanks for figuring that family issue out. It was all just a little confusing to me. I appreciate it!
