Hello all! Recently joined the forum and have enjoyed searching through the old posts and viewing everyone’s collections. Excited to dig a little deeper and post some of my own content.   I’m the relative of a pilot who flew for the 405th Fighter Group - 509th Fighter Squadron in World War II. He arrived to the squadron as a replacement pilot in September 1944 while they were stationed at St. Dizier, France and flew 58 combat missions accruing 105 combat hours. He kept a pretty extensive archive of his service— complete with documents, photos, and even some artifacts from the 509th. Unfortunately, after his passing in 2007 the collection disappeared into the wind. I’ve spent my days trying to piece it back together!   For that reason, my primary interest is the 405 FG - 509 FS— particularly photographs of pilots, nose art, and aircraft. I keep a database of aircraft and pilots that I am always looking to update. If anyone has any interest in selling 405 FG or 509 FS artifacts or photo collections, don’t hesitate to reach out— even if it’s just copies or scans! I’m also always happy to assist with research and provide additional information on anything relating to the 405 FG where I can.   Looking forward to getting to know everyone on the forum and don’t hesitate to reach out if you think I can assist with anything 405 FG - 509 FS related! I also found a couple other insignia/pin from the Industrial Militar annotated in my previous post. Apparently a derivative out of Guatemala made insignia which some vintage ones are highly collectible. Here are a few other images:    

If this were my medal, I would shorten the ribbon to the standard “no bar” length.    It would look much better.   Just takes some basic sewing skills.
