Thinking about writing an article about heart shield Bibles. I own 4, of which 3 are WWII, one is dated 2003.   Can you please share what you have that I don't have?    Mine have no mfg name, but the covers read: 1) May This Comfort and Protect You 2) May this keep you safe from harm 3) May the Lord be with you   and the 1984, which was presented to graduates from West Point, just has a cross, and the year 2003.     If you have a paper shipping box, papers, etc, would love to see that, too.

There's somewhat of a mix of both in here, that is 40th Division and 158th Infantry WWI and 158th Infantry post WWI.     This book is not exactly plentiful so I was happy to be able to obtain a copy.  By the way, there's more than just the cover and the one page I'm showing you.                   This is by far my favorite 40th "Sunshine" Division WWI helmet.  I sure hope it's not fake because I paid some for this one.   Mostly WWI, some WWII & Korean War.   Named General's Jacket but I forgot the name on it at the moment.  I would have to look.   My other 40th WWI helmets.       "A" Company, 158th Infantry is my favorite company of the 158th.                                     There's only a couple of these photographs that were taken in Douglas, AZ as evidenced by the inscription on the back.  The rest of them were taken up at Fort Tuthill, AZ, some 6 miles southeast of Flagstaff, AZ.  It shows the 158th Infantry Arizona National Guard I believe in the 1930 time period conducting training.  Some of those white building you see in the photos at Fort Tuthill are still there I believe.  My parents would take us kids (4 of us) out to Fort Tuthill because that's were they would hold the Coconino County Fair.  Also, my brothers and I had NRA Safety Training out there as well when we were in our early teens.  I would've preferred to have guard training up near Flagstaff at 7000ft elevation versus the hot desert climate of Douglas, AZ.

Very much appreciate both responses.  With that as reference, as I squeeze the pouch it's pretty apparent the pen flares are what I've got. Mystery solved, thanks again!

Hello.    Usually , there is a tag inside the helmet and another tag with the liner.  Probably a P3 helmet  with p4 ear pads . Nice helmet !

You ask for opinions and I have lots of those so here is mine. I don't like it. First conventional wisdom says they were never made in metal they were all bullion embroidery but you know what happens when you say never. It is cast rather than die stamped which is a cheaper and an easier process for making fakes. The fact that the anchors don't fit the shield is a big red flag and since they are both cast they were probably made together. It may be a prototype but considering how much this would be worth if real I would need more that a may be.

aerialbridge you nailed it fast, thought it was gonna be one of those where it takes a lot of members to go through and view before somebody got it.   In the series Kline's character as you recall is a Vietnam era Marine Corps Vet, while his best Friend Jack was in the Navy at that time, don't think service in Vietnam was ever mention for Kline's character, nor Jack, if Jack served in South East Asian Waters, or In Country, you know like Da Nang Cam Rahn Bay, the Mekong Delta etc.   Tried looking for Kline in the O Resister but he's not listed yet as of 1 Jan 1969, indicating he came in as 1969 moved forward, lets say for the sake of argument he enters in like March or April of 1969.   As to one of the girls, Janet LOL.

Thank you for the insight! I did not know, that it was mandatory to fasten the neck button... I don't even want to imagine how uncomfortable this must have been... Especially with all the gear, it must have felt like a noose...

I never said it was model, I said it was made in 1931 and was inspired by previous uniforms and ideas.
