I wonder if early/pre-war ones were made of wool. I believe I see moth holes in some of the pictures 

I was randomly going through my saved buckles file and here's what I chose as my favorite buckles or related PI engraved items from other collections ranging from 1930's - 1950's.   The resolution is a bit lacking but all of these have been posted at one time or another on this forum.  

@PhilippineBuckles - The R.H. Kaufelt Jr. buckle was a nice snag.  That "funky" or "block" font is pretty cool.

Two piece exercise uniform. Made from light material. Seems like it would of been comfortable to wear. I will get more out tomorrow if anybody wants to see. Thanks Greg.

I have had it on a mannequin for years. I can't remember if it was named.

Really nice helmet and liner. Brunettes and helmets always catch my eye. Luckily I'm married to a brunette. 

That is a spectacular specimen, nice insignia, very good condition, just fantastic.  Is there any name or service history information?  I collect post Vietnam era women's uniforms with a focus on maternity patterns, but find all the female items very interesting.  Cheers, Armygas

Gents, My two cents is that now is the time, if not already too late, to pick up any of the last 20 years of camo uniforms from all the services.  Sure there are issues with the 'Hook and Pile' SSI and I hear plenty about how ugly some are.  There are grumbles about how they are not collectable or historically significant and especially how UN-cool they are.  My feeling is counter to most of these and see this as an opportunity to get a nice collection of uniforms while they are still available.  My goal is complete original specimens direct from Vets or nearly so.   I try to get as complete a set as possible to include the smalls, boots and any extras available.  I document what I can at time of acquisition, sometime do a little additional research and hope this will be useful to the next caretaker.  The USAF OCP is a female pattern, that had a nice unit patch stuffed in the sleeve pocket with a few other bits of pocket litter.  The tailored trouser cuffs is a frequent female AF alteration.  The USN NWUI is a blouse and trouser for an enlisted air crew member, I like the uniforms with multiple skill badges sew on.  The USN NWUIII is an officer pilot, the khaki cap was thrown in with the purchase.  I use the odd bits to fill a Riker mount or help tell the story.  If I was just starting in the hobby today, this is where I would spend my efforts.  There are lots of interesting uniforms that all represent a great story of military service to our great nation.  Cheers, Armygas
