Looking for buckles yesterday, I saw these two buckles posted on Facebook.   SEAL Craig Powell   He was in the Pentagon on 9/11  https://www.history.navy.mil/research/archives/Collections/ncdu-det-206/2001/9-11-pentagon-attack/oh-oq/powell-c.html   FASOTRAGRULANT Det Brunswick (SERE) buckle: SERE INSTRUCTOR AMS-1 SAYWELL  posted by Jon Saywell https://www.facebook.com/groups/974574475889284/posts/1582099991803393/

"BORDER PTL" is likely for BORDER PATROL.

That is a really nice collection.   The Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix had a great museum on site with a lot of 158th history, but it had some issues come up several years ago and I think it is still in limbo now.  Hence it has been closed for several years.   Here are the few 158th items that I have.

Sling looks like an issue sling from what I have read early 1944 the color went to a darker OD webbing and can be found with the C tips or the half moon like these in steel or brass.  They webbing weave looks like the correct 9-line weave from 44 on. Some of the later issue ones will have MRT stamped on them

Thank you @vintageproductions and @manayunkman!   Yeah, they are impossible to find here. Fortunately, the seller is based in Germany, so there is no tariff. If he lived in the US, both the German tax and the shipping would double that price (plus the German post office always wants extra money for the fact, that they "paid" your import taxes before they deliver it and they not only want it paid back, but also demand a minimum 10% extra-cost for payibg it in the first place).   I will go ahead and try and buy it :)) Wish me luck, that it works out :)   Jules

All that needed to be done was get a visor cover and screws and replace the liner on that helmet.

It is really beautiful.  The colors are so vivid.  I think it's art as well.  I'm glad you liked reading my thread and I'll certainly try to keep it going.  Thank you for your comments.  Matt

Thanks Peter.  Took most of my lifetime to gather all of the material you see this particular post.  About 50 years collecting off and on.  Of course I missed out on some great items over the years but that's probably a good thing when it comes to staying happily married.  In the 37 years my wife and I have been married she has certainly been gracious when it comes to my collecting for which I am so blessed.  I don't deserve the angel I've been married to and yet God brought her into my life.  I'm a lucky man and I know it.
