A similar mixing of types has happened on the trailer photo, it was taken from a 1952 TM 3/4 TON 2-WHEEL CARGO TRAILER M101.

Manuals are not always a great help. Take this M38 manual dated Jan 1956. Despite the illustration saying M38 trucks on a flatcar the picture clearly shows Jeeps. rear view clearly shows bumperettes flange upwards,  And it continues Ad-Infinitum.

Anyone recognize this patch?  It looks like a USN Harbor Clearance Unit patch of some kind.  Could this be one of the post war reserve units?

. Hi Salvage,   which ever nationality assembled the Jeeps from crates it wasn't made clear which way up or down front bumpers and rear bumpers were supposed to be.  Regarding the front bumper it wouldn't have been realised the mistake until there was any need to use the cranking handle that the hole would have been out of line with the ' dog ' nut on the end of the crankshaft. Both the front and rear bumpers have equally spaced holes enabling the front and rear bumperettes to be bolted on either way up or down, it would have made more sense and negated the issue if the bolt holes had been off-set spaced.    Regarding the rear bumperettes it is a bone of contention as to which way up or down the bumperettes should be fixed when uncrated.  However towards the wars end and afterwards then the Willys factory shipped all their finished Jeeps with the flange downwards. !!!!     And it continues Ad-Infinitum.             Norman D. MY guess, re: chin straps, is that the first time the women had to stand in formation outside, a good stiff breeze de-hatted a significant number of the women.  There's a reason women would stab 4 inch to 12 inch long hat pins through their hats into their hair and I've never seen anything where hat pins were authorized uniform accessories. 😁  Women in skirts would not be interested in chasing their hats across the drill field.  Men's visor hats and campaign hats had chin straps and the women probably said "Hey, if the men can have chin straps, so can we."   Straw hats are notorious for taking flight if not vigorously jammed tight on ones head.  I've chased mine across fields, parking lots, hay meadows, etc.,  under breezy conditions.   Looking closely at the pictures, it appears that the women had their hair stuffed up under the hats, making for relatively loose fits.

Don't know if you used the search function , top right corner.   Tough one to figure out Japanese or Taiwanese made used or issued?   Maybe this might help?   Phill

. hi Bluehawk,   The US and Britain shipped a lot of the early model war-aid Jeeps to Russia as they were no longer required after the US standardised the Willys MB and the Ford GPW as the standard vehicles.   However both of these models were also shipped as Russia was in desperate need for these vehicles, Russia concentrated on tank production to combat the German invasion and the eventual large scale tank battle at Kursk.    If you google ' US Jeeps used in Russian May Day parades ' then lots of photos and sites come up about the Jeeps in Russia     Norman D.
