The author did state, that his g-father served in Germany in the early 50’s during the KW. Is it possible, that this hat was put together from parts, due to lack continued manufacturing after the war and used in some municipal role, aka de-naz’d. Or sold / traded to soldiers for cigarettes, food, etc? -

My father was 509 PIR in WW2. This patch looks very similar to some of the ones he picked up at a 509 reunion. -

hello, My gut also tells me it is possibly a repro. It has a 'funky' look to me. Now I know there are many variations of these especially 'militia' canteens; but if this walked into my shop where I moonlight at; I would pass. It would be hard to sell based on the 'questions'. If this was 'period', I would think militia or early commercial. Not CS. -

I wonder if early/pre-war ones were made of wool. I believe I see moth holes in some of the pictures -

I was randomly going through my saved buckles file and here's what I chose as my favorite buckles or related PI engraved items from other collections ranging from 1930's - 1950's. The resolution is a bit lacking but all of these have been posted at one time or another on this forum. -

@PhilippineBuckles - The R.H. Kaufelt Jr. buckle was a nice snag. That "funky" or "block" font is pretty cool. -

Two piece exercise uniform. Made from light material. Seems like it would of been comfortable to wear. I will get more out tomorrow if anybody wants to see. Thanks Greg. -
