Thank you! That was my thought as well, though the online source I found says WWII. -

I just took a closer look at this and I was mistaken. This appears to be an Anniversary Meal for Lafayette College in Easton, PA -

I can vouch for Poppies reproduction packaging, very high quality. She's put out some very nice pieces over the past few years, I use her stuff for living history and a few place holders in my collection until I find a nice original example of something. -

I would be put off by it as well. At the reenactments here, there actually is a clergy member that portrays a chaplain and also says actual mass on Sundays. To me it is also about being younger, as most chaplains were older, dare I say wiser guys, of higher rank -not that some weren't fresh out of seminary school, but that's 22 on the young side. You could certainly a do a "chaplain assistant" (one of the guys I worked with was one with the 9th AAF in WWII) and that way you could still play the organ! You do think out of the box though! -

Well if that’s all I can do while still being respectful that’s what I’ll work towards. Thanks for the comment -

Gunny Linz was a bit more direct than i was, but he is quite right. that is the main reason i use a mannequin. i was a convoy escort MP in the nam, and i am a combat vet as a result of that year in gun jeeps and V100s. i am not bothered by anyone pretending to be an MP, or any other field except Chaplain. there is a spiritual context there which cannot be denied. i have seen young men portray a wide variety of fields, but no one has presented themselves, at least where i was, as a Chaplain. every time i hear the word Chaplain, i remember Chaplain Liteky, a Medal of Honor recipient. display the equipment if you have it. display a variety of pictures of Chaplains in the field, those are all over the internet. you will notice in my original post that i made it quite clear i was not ordained. i was born in Montreal, Quebec, and i don't even have a birth certificate. back in those days, we received a baptism certificate from the parish, and that's all we had. i am close to 80 now, so i suspect that may have changed. you can still display the equipment and answer the questions, and no one will object. -

Basilone was in the army before the Marines, it was here in the Army serving in the Pacific mid to late 1930's that he acquired the nickname Manila John. -

Thank you, yes, there is a point there. But at the same time doing chaplain isn’t just any impression. You are representing the lord in everything you do when you are at an event in That kit. I hope you know I understand the gravity of portraying a chaplain. Yes I may be young, but I am not that foolish. And yes it is true there would be next to no reenactors if what you’re saying is the case. I agree. I posted it here because I know it can be a touchy subject. I don’t want to start an argument here, especially on the case of religion because that’s not what the forum is reserved for. So if anyone here wants to talk about it. Please PM me I’d love to here your insight and opinions on the subject. Gear Fan -

The logic that if your didn't actually do it, you can't do an impression of it is absurd. Carried out, that means that anyone who has not served in the military may not do military impressions. So, if you go with that, that will winnow out most of the reenactors. Woh be the reenactor who wants to portray a medic yet has no medical training. That might "offend" a real physician who has taken the Hippocratic oath. Those who get bent out of shape about reenacting need to get a grip and realize it's portraying history, that's all. Just like actors in motion pictures portray themselves in various roles. Since he never served in the armed forces, should John Wayne not have acted as military personnel in his movies?? To Gear Fanatic: Just because someone here got "offended" doesn't mean you should give up on your idea. Please don't be put off from your wanting to portray your impression of a clergy person, medic, combat engineer, military police, and the list goes on. Steve -
